Kinza tilted his head slightly before he said" Yes....love causes much more pain than you'd ever expect....but sometimes the pain will help you through life and eventually help you learn to love again.... Lily told me that about a week after I joined the pack and hadn't talked one single word." His voice sounded pained as he spoke Lily's name. He had loved her once and now felt like he was betraying her by the feelings that were starting to form for Kaya. How could he ever love another...when he was still so wrapped up in the pain of loss?

"Yea, I know, my mother always told me that. You'd be amazed at how love can bite you in the ass so hard. Heh. I myself was involved in one sided love. Even managed to love three at once, though they are gone now...and all I have to remember them by are these dreadful wounds I've grown to hate...the largest mistake I ever made in my life will never be forgotten..." Suddenly she perked up. Her ears flicked forward, well, one at the least. For some reason her torn ear barely budged. She forced a smile onto her lips before turned and walking some down the dun towards the salty smell that was now in the air. "I don't know about you, but I could sure go for a cool swim."

Kinza followed her though he didn't know why though a small smiled played at his maw before he said" I'll race you to the water...try to keep up." With that he darted forwards. Despite his huge size he was amazingly agile and fast holding as much grace as the smallest and swiftest of wolves.

Kaya gave a light laugh as she bounded after him. "You just lost a challenge there! I'm no beardog for nothing!" Her long legs stretched over the ground, covering up the distance between them. Her paws kept her ontop the sand, giving her the impression that she glided over the ground. Her thick fur now streamed out behind her, showing her streamline body. She was in no time at his side, but for some odd reason didn't pull forward. Her tail streamed out behind her like a rudder. Suddenly she pulled back a little. Her hind muscles bunched and she brought her hind legs beneath her. She pushed as hard as she could and sailed over Kinza's form and landed in a dead run a few feet in front of him. She looked behind her shoulder and winked lightly, a grin upon her mug. She flicked her tail in fare well as she reached the top of one of the dunes. From there, she lanuched herself into the air, landing a good ways down. Hey, she was a bear dog. She had to be quick to dodge those claws and jump high and far to reach the bear's nose.

Kinza smirked in surprise before he sped up soon reaching the top of the dune and jumping practically all the way down it as he slid down the rest before he sprinted forwards once more. He could of nipped her tail now if her wished. In his pack he'd been the scout so he had to be fast to relay news swiftly back to the pack silently. Still Kaya was giving him a run for his money. She was much faster than he had expected and she was as graceful as a swan as she ran across the sand lightly.

Kaya glanced behind and into Kinza's handsome face. Reguardless of herself, she found herself smiling softly at him. But the heat of challenge ran thick in her blood. She set out straight again, opening her stride even more, but she was reaching her limit. Her chest began to constrict painfully. She could almost hear the ocean waves now. 'Just a little farther. Man I promise that after this, I'm gonna start training everyday again.'

Kinza was caught up in the moment as paws padded the earth. He was built for distance so he lengthened his stride just enough to have his shoulder level with Kaya's flank. Auds were pricked forwards happily and he felt as he had back home in the huge forest and plain. He tilted his head slightly and jaws parted slightly as he let out his low yet musical and silky howl that got tossed by the waves that looked ahead.

Kaya smiled at his howl. A bubblely feeling rose in her belly until she lifted her head and parted her jaws, a high pitched, yet smooth and clear howl. Her dog blood didn't affect her wolf abilities at all. But howling while running so low to the ground was a bad idea. The tight muscles clenched, causing her to lower her head to the ground in pain, hoping the muscles would relax. But they were bent against her. They clenched tighter until she was forced to come to a halting stop. Her steps were long and stiff, her head brought down low and chin pressed against her side. Her jaws were clamped shut, yet her harsh breathing could be heard. Her right eye was shut tight and her left eye watching Kinza. She offered a pain smile. "Sorry...old wounds...acting up..."

Kinza slid to a halt and watched her before he said"It's fine...you alright?" He watched her pained face and posture a slight tint of worry in his eyes.

She gave a slight nod of her head, though still kept it close to her chest as she limped forward. "Yea, this happens whenever I overwork myself. I haven't had a hard run like that in a while. Normally when I hunt, I slowly just creep up so I have only a short sprint. The muscles in my chest are really taunt ever since I was attacked by a...anyway, I just need to rest and stretch my legs out. It normally goes away after a while." 'But boy does it hurt like heck when it does come.'

Kinza shrugged before he said" Alright, we can walk the rest of the way down to the water or we can stay here. The water would help relax your muscles more but its up to you." When she had stopped midsentence about how she had recieved her wounds his ears had perked forwards and now a hint of curiousity show in his once dull eyes.

Kaya nodded stiffly before limping forward, taking short, jagged breaths. She'd stop every now and then when the muscles knotted tightly and then walk on. Finally she reached the water and slowly padded a little deeper. Carefully she laid down in the water. The waves slowly rolled over her back, wetting her fur and pushing it down, but her head was not touched. Her fur now pressed against her body, the full extent of her scars could be seen and how truely skinny she was. Her ribs were visible, but a light coat of fat and muscle proved that while she was very skinny, it was not an unhealthy skinny. The scar connected with her skin in smooth little white nicks.
The ones on her torso didn't look as painful since they had healed slower and more properly, but the ones on her white chest looked agonizing. The way they connected with her skin was tight, like little knots. The wounds had obviously healed much faster than they should have and in the fashion that top healed and knitted together before the inside. This caused the surface of the wound to close tightly and dip in. The surface of the wound was much wider than the inside, so it healed tightly together in order to prevent infection and also to allow the inside to heal better. It was a wonder she was not whimpering like normal wolves would have.

Kinza had follwed her down the whole way stopping when she did and not rushing her. When he saw the scars they reminded him of a wolf he had once met on his travels, but that one couldn't barely walk let alone think of running. The one he had met had also been a sniveling baby. He walked into the water his tail flowing out behind him as he walked until his shoulders were completely covered. The waves lapped over his shoulders and up his neck slightly. Ears flopped down as he closed his eyes though one ear was back listening to Kaya. He knew most would of probably left her by now, but he felt drawn to stay here....but why? He couldn't be falling in love again...could he? Finally soft vocals emerged before he asked casually" Mind me asking where you got those scars?"

Having been watchinghim, she didn't expect him to ask her that question. Kaya grew erriely quiet at his question. She looked down at her paws through the clear water, remembering that day. The day her life was turned completely upside down. She could tell him, but she wasn't sure if she'd be able to tell him with breaking down. It wasn't the fact that the blood and death of the ones she truely loved that hurt her, but that was also the day she found out about Keahi's true intention. And then again, Kaya didn't have to tell Kinza, she could easily lie, but then again...
She clenched her eye tightly before taking a deep breath. Her voice was painful and a soft whisper as she relived those moments over and over in her mind. "Akuma...it means devil bear...the devil bear who killed them, killed them all. My little Setsuna and Kaylii...Keahi and I tried to protect them, but this bear was old. He wasn't named devil for nothing...I tried to protect them...but after Keahi was..." Her voice began to break up. "That d**ned bear killed what little family I had left and my future in just one swipe of its paw...And for protecting them I got these...it was useless...I knew I could not protect them...yet I tried...and it was all in vain...he killed them all in the end...he killed my love...and the most precious things a female wolf could ever have...he robbed me of my pups..."

Kinza turned around and looked at her before he said"I'm sorry, I know it wouldn't mean much if I said I know how you feel but in a way I do. Though not scarred as deep on the outside as yourself when my family and...pups were killed I was scarred deep into my heart. Earlier you asked me if my scars hurt me and I told you only the bullet wounds....but the ones on my heart hurt far worse...and they hurt all the time." Yes the words mightn't of meant much but...they were words of comfort or at least empathy....but never sympathy. He wasn't the sympethetic type.
